Title of Workshop: Reducing the Incidence of Suicide through Proactive Measures
Description: Suicide is the 11th-leading cause of death, with 32,000 suicides a year, or about 89 a day. Among Americans ages 10 to 24, it's the third-leading cause of death, accounting for about 4,600 deaths a year. Many family members feel ill-prepared to assist a suicidal loved one. Mental health practitioners may lack specialized training in reducing the occurrence of suicide in their clients. This experiential, hands-on workshop will dispel myths regarding suicide and provide participants with practical information and skills to reduce the incidence of suicide.
